Crown Perth and The West Australia has launched a campaign thanking nurses on the front-line of the COVID-19 pandemic. The two casino giants aim to raise $250,000 for those helping in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.
Western Australian nurses are battling around the clock to help the fight against COVID-19. Hospitals remain open because of these superstars. Every patient is treated with the care and respect they deserve. Nurses risk their own health and lives by tending to sick people. Their duties mean they risk contracting the highly contagious and potentially deadly virus.
The fight against COVID-19 is ongoing around the world. Confirmed cases now approach 4.8 million and the death toll stands at a sombre 314,000. Australia has gotten off relatively lightly so far with 7,045 cases. The 98 Australian deaths are still 98 too many, however.
Crown Perth and The West Australian want to thank nurses in Western Australia for their devotion to their crucial work. They’re doing this by offering 250 Western Australia nurses a luxury staycation at their hotels. Each stay is valued at $1,000 and the angels on the front-line will welcome the much-needed break.
Crown Perth’s COO Explains the Campaign
Peter Crinis, the Chief Operating Officer for Crown Perth explained the thinking behind the campaign.
“One this that COVID-19 has taught us all is the strength of community and the pivotal role of essential workers. COVID-19 has made a lot of people reassess what the term hero means in our community. Our nurses make sacrifices each day they go to work and potentially expose themselves to serious illnesses like COVID-19, and for that, we wanted to five something back.”
The Western Australia public nominates its hero nurses via the casino’s website. Voters can explain in 100 words or fewer why their nurse should win a luxury stay at Crown Perth. The decision on the winners is made by Crown Rafter every nominee is considered.
Those 250 hero nurses get to enjoy a luxury staycation at the five-star Crown Perth. This includes fine dining and a pampering session at Crown Perth’s luxury spa.
Bryony Heydon is a nurse who spoke to the Perth Now website about the campaign. Ms Heydon has been a nurse at Mount Hospital in Perth for the past 11-years. She described the Crown Perth offers as incredible.
“My decision to be a nurse was an easy one. I really wanted a job that changed every day and I wanted to help people. This pandemic has put a spotlight on essential workers and the appreciation for what we do has been so welcome and heart-warming.”

Some Positive News For Crown Resorts
It is safe to say Crown Resorts has had a rough time lately. The casino giant has found itself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Australian regulators and authorities have fallen out with Crown. The public isn’t too happy with them either because it laid off more than 10,000 staff before paying several hundred million dollars in dividends a short time later.
Crown’s reputation is in tatters but gestures like this from Crown Perth go along way to repairing it.
