Gamblers in South Australia are in for a treat because the $330 million upgrades to the SkyCity Adelaide nears completion.

Customers don’t have long to wait to see where the $330 million has been spent. SkyCity Adelaide is keeping its project under wraps, although we do have some details available.

The $330 million upgrade sees an additional 120 luxurious hotel rooms and new restaurants. There’s a new wellness centre complete with spa, pool and a gym. A bar with a full 360-degree view will be a hit with the casino’s patrons.

David Christian, the General Manager of SkyCity Adelaide, revealed the complex is due to open at the end of November. Christian is delighted the casino’s recruitment process is underway. Some 800 jobs are available, giving a significant boost to the local economy.

“One of the key features has been focusing on that it’s a true SA venue; whether it be with the art work all sourced locally, our food and wine list, down to Liza Emanuele designing all our new uniforms,” Christian said.

“It will make an extremely unique product and will be equally one of the best casino, entertainment venue products in Australasia. We’re already taking bookings for December 1. We’re expecting to open the last week of November. We’ll be trial running to make sure it’s perfect.”

SkyCity Adelaide To Bring In Much Needed Tourism

The upgraded SkyCity Adelaide casino isn’t only creating 800 jobs, it will attract plenty of tourists.

$420 per night is the price of the basic hotel rooms, putting SkyCity Adelaide at the higher end of the market. Prices for staying in one of the 40 executive suites are unavailable currently. Well-heeled VIPs can spend the night in the private villa. It features its own balcony, dining room, gym, and sauna. The catch? It costs $5,000 per night.

Premier Steven Marshall discussed the positives of the new-look SkyCity Adelaide.

“Coronavirus has kept the number of people from coming from overseas and interstate extraordinarily low but when this open, I think we’ll be coming out of the coronavirus and will be attracting more people to come to the state.”

“SA has needed an upgrade to its higher end accommodation. The product we have coming online in SA now compares favourably with anything on offer around the country. There are markets that require this super high-level product which we were missing.”

Southern Australians Soon Spoiled For Choice

Southern Australia will be the country’s premium gambling hotspot thanks to the three major players having a presence there.

The Star Gold Coast is undergoing a major transformation with a further four towers being constructed. One tower measures 53-stories and contains a 4.5 star hotel and an apartment building. A staggering 3,000 new rooms and apartments makes Star Gold Coast one of the biggest casino complexes in the world. Construction began in 2018 at a cost of some $2 billion. It opens in 2022.

Crown Resorts is opening its new Crown Sydney casino in Barangaroo at a cost of $2.2 billion. The resort is set for an early 2021 opening, although its hospitality section opens in December.

Customers have 14 restaurants and bars to choose from, including the world-renowned Nobu. It’s 77-storey hotel, residential and casino property is the single tallest building in Sydney.

Crown Sydney boasts of 349 guest room, 20 private villas, and two premium villas. There are 82 apartments and all are available to purchase if you want a base in Sydney. They’re not cheap, however, with two-bedroom apartments starting at an eye-watering $9.5 million.

Don’t head here if you like playing pokies because you are not able to. Star Entertainment signed a deal with the NSW Government in June to block Crown from installing pokies. The agreement doesn’t expire until the year 2041.
