A male revue Yahoo termed “Australia’s hottest export” received a 10-year extension with MGM Resorts this week. “Australia’s Thunder from Down Under” signed a deal to continue its residency at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
Thunder From Down Under is the the longest-running and highest-grossing male revue in Las Vegas history. The show has played continuously since 2001. Thunder from Down Under began in 1991, when Billy Cross founded the act in Australia. To this day, Cross Promotions International owns Thunder. SPI Entertainment produces the show, along with several other top Las Vegas productions.

About Thunder from Down Under
Since then, approximately 10 million people have watched Thunder perform. The act performs 12 shows a week at the Excalibur, while the dancers tour the country throughout parts of the year. In fact, Thunder From Down Under has performed in the UK, Ireland, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Russia, China, and Thailand.
Over the years, Thunder from Down Under has made a number of media appearances. The act appeared on the Disney film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and on tv shows like Impractical Jokers, Project Runway, The Tyra Banks Show, The Today Show, and The View.
Ultimate Girls Night Outback
Thunder has become a must-see attraction for certain Vegas visitors, though some say it’s an acquired taste. The show, dubbed “The Ultimate Girls Night Outback”, originally marketed itself with its no-tipping policy.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal named Thunder from Down Under the “Best Male Revue in 2006 and 2007”, though the competition is fierce. AOL City Guide named the group the “Best Adult Attraction of 2006 and 2007.”
Billy Cross on MGM Resorts Deal
The new deal with MGM Resorts includes several improvements. Thunderland, a $6 million expansion of the current showroom, debuts in July 2019. Billy Cross, CEO and founder of Cross Promotions International, spoke of the addition of Thunderland.
Cross said, “This is an incredibly exciting time for our brand. What we are bringing to life with Thunderland is going to be a game-changer in entertainment.”
